Editorial – Bioethics and Theology in Conversation
In the fields of bioethics and moral theology the role of the theologian is to draw elements from the surrounding culture that illuminate the mystery of faith in a way that feeds the spiritual growth of ordinary people. We must be wary of focusing on technological possibility to the detriment of relationships. In our quest to find responses to the desires of individuals we may forget about the needs of the majority of humankind.

The question that stands at the heart of the debate about embryo-destructive research is whether or not it is ethical to achieve a good outcome using bad means. Catholic teaching provides clear guidance on this question. Research that does not uphold human dignity will not ultimately advance human well-being.
